RIVER HILLS ANTIQUE TRACTOR CLUB PICTURES

Spring Time Plow Day at the Buchheit Farm near Longtown, Missouri April 4, 2011.

Left to right: Jonathon Jeremiah on a 1958 JD 530 with 44H 2x16" plow, Alex Buchheit 1958 JD 720 Diesel & JD 825 3x16" roll-over plow, Grant Jeremiah 1957 JD 720 gas & JD 555H 4x14" trailer plow, Jim Buchheit on 2010 JD 6430 mfwd & JD F145H 4x16" plow.

The Perfect furrow in sod...couldn't ask for better soil conditions and especially in April.

Jonathon's 1958 720 gas row-crop coupled up with a 555H JD 4x14" trailer plow...it was the first true heavy field pull for the tractor since being completely restored from front to back.

May 2010; For the first time in 3 years, I got my 6 acres of hay all cut, raked, baled, and in the barn without getting rained on. My recent acquisition of this JD No. 32 hay crusher allowed me to mow on a Saturday morning and bale Sunday afternoon! Yes, the hay was really dry.

Jonathon got to try his hand mowing with the 1952 B and JD No. 8 sickle bar mower. He's now admittedly spoiled after getting accustomed to the live hydraulic pump.

Getting ready for plowing Fall 2009.

Nearly new 14.9-38" Armstrong rear tires and new paint on the rear wheels help to dress things up not to mention much improved traction.

Getting Down to Business with the hay making crew. Sabrina and Jonathon showed up ready to haul hay with their 1957 720 Gas which is very nicely restored.

This year the roughly 6 acres made right over 360 bales so 60 square bales/acre.

This year we stepped up from a 14T to a 347 JD wire tie baler...what a difference!

The trusty old 720 D on the baler and Jonathon's fancy restored 720 gas with his 953 original JD wagon.

Plowing with my John Deere 1952 'B' and model 44H John Deere 2-16" bottom plow at the Roy farm in Prairie du Rocher, IL. My father-in-law (an IH man) put me in a field near the homestead with soil ranging from good tillable black soil to some of the toughest Gumbo soil that anyone can imagine. I'd say that my little old Johnny Popper surprised him as it hung right in there even in the tough spots. Note my 720 Dsl in the background hooked to his 10x71 grain auger. I plowed in between hauling & unloading corn from a few fields over as the Fall 2008 harvest drew to a close. As you can tell it was a very nice day with highs near 60 degrees.

What a great summer activity...mowing hay with a great old 52' John Deere B and a #5 sickle mower! Although this photo was taken only at the end of May 2008 it could easily be may of 1952.

I mowed about 5 acres of thick grass hay and nearly have the rusty sickle shined up. That pith hat really worked nice to keep the sun off my head.
